FAQ

Are you Affiliated with Twitter?

No.

What is the format for your Posts?

  • Edited Wikipedia as the description in most cases, to tell people who they are.
  • Proof of Verification (Add videos links, anything that exposes a Fake, or Verifies.
  • Add all the fakers to the post, which is really important to Celebrities!

Note: The blue Twitter badge may be displayed on the post as proof that Twitter has verified the account.

What is the format for your Tweets?

If Twitter Verifies, adds the blue badge to the page:

  • “Twitter Verified Account – (celeb)”

If we Verify with a clue, no badge:

  • Twitter Details For (celeb)”.

We may or may not RT with change if Twitter Verifies the account.

When did you start TruthTweet?

TruthTweet 1.0 was set up on blogger in early February 2009, with another fake fighter, who has since gone in another direction.

TruthTweet 2.0 was launched in early March 2009.

Where Are you located?

Boston Ma, USA.

What Celebrities do you post on TruthTweet?

Will add anything that people send from other geographical locations. Starts with Celebrities we are familiar with, so that would be Americans.

Are there other Sites that do what you do?

Yes, and since Twitter launched the Verified Account system, “Fake” verifiers have popped up, verifying fakes.

Is Faking a Twitter thing?

No! It may seem that way, but Twitter has the least faking of all the anonymous account creation platforms (MySpace, facebook, etc..).

Can Twitter prevent Fakes?

Faking is NOT Twitter’s fault. Its inherent to Web 2.0, Social Media, and the Internet. Anonymity. Short of asking millions of people to Verify at signup, its next to impossible. Twitter’s blue Verified Accounts badge tells you who the real celeb is, but that (currently) doesn’t prevent new fakes from appearing, because people with that same name legitimately can’t be banned.

Can I figure this out on my own without Following you?

Sure..In a lot of cases its obvious, so you can do it yourself. Or follow us and we will do it for you, tweeting it eventually. And if you take it on your own, please share it with us so we can tell other people that follow.

  1. Look for the blue Twitter Verified Account badge.
  2. Check YouTube, or other Video related sites. Look for A Video that clearly states Twitter information.
  3. Follow The Twitter Employees. They are always tweeting new arrivals.
  4. Check for a Twitter link from any URL listed in the @’a account settings. Official Websites are best, Facebook, and MySpace are risks, because they are like a Twitter profile, you can use any name you want.
  5. See which Verified Celebs are following who. Be warned, its unfortunate, but the Celebs sometimes follow fakes too. Watch their timelines for verification, and how they did it. Make sure its a 2-way. Fakers send tweets to Verified celebs that are not returned to fool people.
  6. Personal twit pics or photographs. No glamor or generic photos prove anything.
